I came to create HoHumCards in a roundabout way. It started with Christmas cards. There is something about the giving and receiving of Christmas cards that has always interested me. I love the whole process, coming up with the idea, executing it, sending the cards and then, best of all, receiving them.

I put together a book called Merry Christmas From…150 Christmas cards you wish you’d received which is a selection of the wackiest most wonderful cards I was able to find. In my search, I looked at tens of thousands of cards, and I came across so many amazing ones that I couldn’t fit them all in my book.  It is such a pity that these cards are only shared with close friends that I decided to start a Christmas card sharing website devoted to the “rest of the best”.

My brother, Andy Kaynor a graphic and web-designer, came on as my partner with much needed technical expertise. We called the site  MerryChristmasFrom.com after the book and we had thousands of visitors and some amazing card submissions from all over the world. We had a blast with it, and we realized that the site could also help people create their cards. I envisioned a site where people like me (creative but technologically challenged) were given the ability to create fun and creative cards for the holidays. I figured, if you are going to all of the trouble to make a card and send it out, why not make it fun and memorable.

As we started adding more and more features to our site, we realized that we could easily allow people to create all sorts of other cards, from invitations to wedding announcements, so HoHumCards was born (the name is supposed to be ironic). So here we are, working hard to come up with as many innovative and fun ideas for your cards as we can.

If you have an idea, contact us – we are constantly looking for sources of inspiration. If you need an idea, go to the Creative Tips section where I interview photographers and designers and show you my favorite cards. Or check out the original part of the site, the  Christmas Card Gallery which is still going strong. There, I  post people’s holiday card submissions and you can check out “the rest of the best” during the Christmas season.

Finally , in case you are late with a card or don’t want to go to the effort to mail it, we are working on some  amazing E-Cards (ready mid-December) which you can personalize with your faces. Keep checking back, even we don’t know what’s next!
