Fun Valentines Day Card Ideas
I don’t know about you, but I find Valentines Day tricky as an adult. For me and my husband, forced sentiment on a card feels awkward; we tend to like things humorous. I started surfing around the web looking for fun Valentines day cards for adults, but, in fact, there was only one which fit into my concept of fun cards, made by real people. It is a very old one, by Julia Childs and feaured in the movie, Julie and Julia.
I love the expression on her husband’s face, looking a little bit as if he were caught in the act. It was taken in 1956, yet it is still a modern card which would be wonderful to receive today. Wouldn’t it be great to recreate this and send it as a late Christmas card/Valentines day card. Why not?
Here is another images which would be fun to reproduce, though it would take a brave man!
A fun cartoon which caught my eye was this one of cupids in target practice.
This just cracked me up for some reason. But this cartoon isn’t really something you can do yourself, unless you have cartooning skills, maybe you do, but I don’t. Maybe if someone were an hunter and posed a shot in full hunters regalia, with wings on shooting a gun at a target made to look like a heart? Maybe I’m trying too hard.
If you need something easy , here is one way of wishing your loved one Happy Valentines Day:
The words are a bit… sad….You could say “Happy Valentines Day, Will you Marry Me” instead.
As long as we’re on the subject, here is another fun way to pop the question, with a box of chocolates from ABChocolates.

This box of chocolates spells out whatever words you want to say. Of course, if you’re already married, you could just say “Happy Valentines Day.” I would be thrilled to get this from my husband. (hint hint)
Another fun way of saying Happy Valentines day is by giving something like these dice:
You can buy them at www.theGameStore.com or at www.FavorsandFlowers.com. At least they are more usable than a card and you could play liars dice Valentines Day Night (like liars poker, but with dice). The loser does the dishes? or ….
And finally, here is one last idea for a gift for your loved one. Coupons. These Valentines Coupons are printable at Better Homes and Gardens website www.BHG.com
You can also just make your own coupons, but if that is all too much work, I am designing a personalizable Valentine Coupon for my site when it is up and running. I love coupons, they are a fun way to give a thoughtful gift. The gift doesn’t have to be a massage or sexy favors. It could be something much more banal. For example, you men could give your wives a day off of taking care of the kids. (I would love that!) Or wives, how about giving him the gift of no changing diapers for a week! I know my husband would have thanked me on hands and knees for that gift a few years ago. At one point we had three kids in diapers… Yikes. But I’m straying from the subject.
I hope some of these thoughts give you an idea for what to give an adult for Valentines Day, it’s tricky I know. Mostly this is a holiday for kids. I am designing cards for my two girls now to take to school (no, they are not in diapers anymore). They are giving me lots of input; they want their cards to be fun and stylish, not cute or babyish.
I’ll show you what we come up with shortly.
And to close, here is one final way of wishing your loved one a Happy Valentine’s Day:

by Karen Robert

Apparently Julie Child and her husband never were able to get out their Christmas cards on time, so they started sending Valentine’s cards. She also said she LOVED rubber stamps, back when there weren’t many to choose from. (There are several more of their cards in her book, My Life in France.)
