Big Eyes
| I love making new cards each year. My wife and I have always been drawn to the vast amount of expressions our son seems to emanate throughout each day. When the time came this year to start thinking Christmas Card ideas, my wife suggested we keep it simple, create a sign and have our son hold it…that was the it. The emotion and life that would come from the image would have to come from his face.
I took a small series of about 12 images while Emory (that’s my son’s name) continued to stare at me with eyes that seemed to plead, no more. I got exactly what I was hoping for, a simple realistic portrait that expresses the slightly ridiculous side of the holiday season; where parents force their kids to wear santa hats and hold signs, and pretend to be overly happy.
